Shaping the Future: FCDO Engagement on Centrally Managed Programmes

FCDO Engagement on Centrally Managed Programmes

14 February 2025

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) and Bond UK have unveiled a roadmap aimed at fostering equitable partnerships between the FCDO and civil society organisations around the world. Developed through a global engagement exercise funded by FCDO, the roadmap draws on insights from civil society leaders across the globe. UK, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, and the Indo-Pacific.

The engagement process, conducted from September to October 2023, spanned international regions identified by the FCDO. WACSI facilitated consultations in West Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Central Asia, and the Indo-Pacific, while Bond led discussions in the UK, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Eastern Europe. The consultations combined virtual and in-person formats alongside a survey, ensuring wide geographic reach and the inclusion of diverse perspectives.

We have now launched the executive summary of the FCDO Engagement Report on Shaping the Future of Centrally Managed Civil Society and Civic Space Programming which you can read here.

In this webinar, the speakers explored the recommendations highlighted in the executive summary, and shared insights from civil society voices who participated in the engagements from the UK, West Africa & MENA, Eastern Europe, East & Southern Africa, Central Asia and the Indo-Pacific. The session provided an opportunity to engage directly with FCDO representatives, and hear them answer questions from the audience.
