Bond reaction to killing of humanitarian workers in Gaza
Following reports that 8 humanitarian workers, including volunteers with Bond member, Al Khair Foundation, and independent journalists documenting their activities, were killed over the weekend, Bond has reacted with the following statement:
Our thoughts go out the families, colleagues and friends of the humanitarian workers who have lost their lives while trying to provide much needed help in Gaza. These workers risk their lives every day to reach people in dire need of support, they must be able to do this safely, in line with international humanitarian law. It is also deeply concerning that there are violations of the ceasefire and more must be done by the international community to ensure the safety of both civilians and humanitarian workers. We urge all parties to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law.
ENDS.
