Tom Hart is a Social Psychologist and Health Poverty Action’s Country Director in Guatemala, where he has lived since 1993.
He works alongside Indigenous Maya communities to improve health systems, and to encourage Ministry of Health services to implement culturally appropriate approaches. Recently, he has worked with Mental Health Professionals and Traditional Birth Attendants to improve recognition and treatment of Perinatal Depression in rural Maya K’iche’ and Maya Mam communities.
