Manoela Baltar is a Senior Programmes Officer at Peace Direct, where she supports local partners in Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Mali on their locally-led efforts to prevent violence and build long-term peace.
Prior to joining Peace Direct, Manoela has worked with and alongside grassroots organisations, government institutions and INGOs, including International Alert, the British Council and the European Commission. She also holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development from SOAS, University of London.
She is a passionate advocate of decolonising aid and guides her work by a commitment to shifting power dynamics in the sector and enabling local actors to take a greater leadership role in crisis prevention and response.
