Lisa Reilly MSyl, currently works as a consultant supporting organisations in the humanitarian space to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of their staff. Lisa also has a private practice offering therapy and counselling, using her experience to support those working overseas and with the charity Tough Enough to Care. She is also a founding member of the Duty of Care Alliance. A group of mixed experts working to raise awareness and improve DoC in the aid sector. Find out more here.

Lisa Reilly worked with the Global Interagency Security Forum (GISF) as Executive Director from 2011 to 2023.

Lisa has over 16 years’ overseas experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, working in a variety of management roles in both Africa and Asia. Starting as an engineer, Lisa’s security knowledge comes from implementing programmes in various conflict and post-conflict countries. In GISF, Lisa supported the development of best practice in security risk management, most recently on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and working more equitably with local partners. Lisa successfully brought together a collaborative network of experts from academia, governments, UN and private sector, as well as international and national NGOs.

Lisa’s work with GISF and her own therapy journey has led her to appreciate how good mental health is essential for effective staff, as well as good security risk management. Lisa has completed her psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis and uses the knowledge gained to support organisations improve mental and physical well-being and build team resilience.

Lisa is a Member of the Security Institute and is Co-Chair of the Inclusive Security SIG, she is the Winner of the 2020 Women in Security, Contribution to Industry Award and included in the IFSEC Global Security & Fire Top 25 Influencers of 2022 for Security: Thought Leadership / Association Figures / Academics. Lisa is also a member of the WFP Security Advisory Board (SECAB).
