Damian Lilly has more than fifteen years’ experience working for the United Nations (UN) and non-government organisations (NGOs) in the fields of humanitarian affairs, peacekeeping and human rights, and had deployed in a variety of contexts including Afghanistan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Sudan and the Middle East. He was most recently the Chief of the Protection Division at the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and before that was the Senior Advisor on the Protection of Civilians for the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
He has published a number of academic, policy and other articles on different topics related to human rights, peacekeeping and humanitarian affairs. He is from the United Kingdom and currently an independent consultant.
