Bibusa is Bond’s Policy and Advocacy Adviser, focusing on civic space. She works with civil society organisations to promote an enabling campaigning environment in the UK, monitors and responds to restrictions on protests and campaigning , and chairs the Civil Society Voice policy group.
Since joining Bond, Bibusa has led on the data analysis to identify key trends for Bond’s annual Civic Space Review, she has collaborated with the Transparency Working Group to shape the UK’s transparency commitment for the Open Government Partnership’s 6th National Action Plan, and contributes to cross-sector efforts on protecting civic space with other platforms and networks.
Bibusa has a background in human trafficking and modern slavery prevention and has previously worked within the anti-trafficking sector to ensure survivors of modern slavery understand their legal rights and entitlements in the UK. She has a Master of Laws and also provides voluntary support towards the development of projects in Zambia.
